In this role, DeVos will lead the Board to oversee the Center's management, operations, finances, investment, fundraising, and other governance responsibilities in coordination with the Center's Chairman, President Bill Clinton. The National Constitution Center's Board is comprised of leaders of business, government and society, including President George H. W. Bush, retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, Vanguard Group founder Jack Bogle, President of NBCUniversal International Jeff Shell, CEO of Citizens Financial Group Ellen Alemany, and film producer Marc Platt. "Doug DeVos' wealth of experience and extraordinary track record of success make him uniquely suited to lead our Board," said National Constitution Center President and CEO David Eisner. "Amway exemplifies good corporate citizenship, and the company's core values of freedom and opportunity are strongly aligned with the Center's mission of illuminating constitutional ideals and inspiring civic engagement. In addition, Chairman DeVos' expertise in the areas of marketing, branding and business growth will be a tremendous asset as we implement our ambitious, new five-year Strategic Plan." "I am humbled and honored to serve in this capacity for the National Constitution Center," remarked DeVos. "Bringing greater awareness to the foundation of our country and the roadmap of liberty and freedom that our Founding Fathers prescribed is a personal passion of mine, and I'm proud to be part of the Center's efforts." DeVos succeeds Lawrence J. Kent, who has served on the Board since 2004 and as Chairman of the Executive Committee since 2007. Kent will remain a Trustee of the Center. "It has been a privilege to lead the Board of the National Constitution Center along with President Clinton, and I look forward to continuing to serve this extraordinary institution," said Kent. "Doug DeVos is an inspired, forward-thinking leader with a wealth of experience, and I know he will provide invaluable guidance as the Center looks toward an exciting, thriving future." "This is an important transition from one phenomenal leader to another," added Eisner. "Larry's generosity and tireless service have been crucial to the Center's success; we know that Doug will proudly carry the torch, and we are counting on Larry's continued counsel as Trustee in the future." Doug and the DeVos family are among the Center's earliest and most enduring supporters. Doug's father, Amway co-founder Richard DeVos, has served on the Board since 2001. The Richard and Helen DeVos Exhibit Hall is named in honor of him and his wife. Located on Independence Mall in Historic Philadelphia, the National Constitution Center is America's first and only nonprofit, nonpartisan institution devoted to the U.S. Constitution. As a cutting-edge museum, national town hall and educational facility, the Center illuminates constitutional ideals and inspires acts of citizenship through must-see multimedia exhibitions, live performances, timely public programs and dynamic educational resources. The museum dramatically tells the story of "We the People" through more than 100 interactive exhibits, films, photographs and rare artifacts; the stirring theatrical performance Freedom Rising; and the iconic attraction Signers' Hall, featuring 42 life-sized bronze statues of the Founding Fathers. As America's town hall for constitutional dialogue, the Center regularly engages political leaders, scholars, pundits and journalists of diverse viewpoints. The Center also houses the Annenberg Center for Education and Outreach, which serves as the hub for national constitutional education and provides exceptional civic learning resources both onsite and online.
