• “What makes this business different than any other opportunity,” says Jody Dutt, “is that we have an elected body called the
IBOAI that works with the Corporation, and as a result, a Code of Ethics that gives the IBO some protection.”

• Jody Dutt was just a teen when his parents, Jere and Eileen, qualified as Amway Global’s first Diamonds in 1964.
• In the early days of the American Way Association, before Amway Global was even formed, distributors (now IBOs) sought out
products in the marketplace to sell. Jody Dutt remembers his dad trying a water softener kit, car generator, and battery additive.
• Over Jim Janz’s 25 years on the IBOAI Board – including 15 years as Chairman of the Canadian Board when it was a separate
association, and in 2007 as Chairman of the North American Board – he has seen the Corporation and, thus, the business grow in the eyes of the world.
• Whenever there’s been a bump in the road, the business has always risen to the challenge, Jim Janz notes.
• Canada became Amway first international market in 1962, and in 1964 Jim and Sharon Janz of British Columbia
signed on as IBOs. Over the years, they’ve been involved in the Board as a parade of new markets came online.
• Among the names on the original Association charter signed in 1959 were Fred Hansen, Jere Dutt, and Joe Victor. “They were also
the first three Diamonds in the business,” says Jody Victor, Joe’s son, “and they attended the first Bahama Rama in 1965 with 13 distributorships. The Full Story>>
• “Originally, the Board met monthly,” says Jody Victor, son of founding Board Member Joe Victor and current member of the
IBOAI Governance & Oversight Committee. “They talked a lot about products, which had to meet five principles: universal appeal, repeatable sales, unlimited potential, not tied to the economy, and supports free enterprise.”
• “Before there was an Amway, there was an American Way Association,” says Jody Victor, who at 11 witnessed the birth of both
the industry-leading company and the trade association that preceded it.
