 The IBOAI recently shared the passing of Helyne
Victor, matriarch of three generations of IBOs.
Helyne, one of the founders of the American Way
Association and, thus, the Independent Business
Owners Association International, had died at age 87.
Helyne and her husband, Joe, met Amway Corp.
founders Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel when all were
Nutrilite distributors in 1950. Nine years later,
the Victors and a few other distributors joined Rich
and Jay in founding the American Way Association.
From that came Amway, then Quixtar and Alticor. The
Victors became Crowns, raising a family of IBOs who
worked tirelessly to help others achieve personal
success. One of Helyne’s sons, Jody, and his wife,
Kathy, are Crowns, and serve on the IBOAI Board.
Helyne will be dearly missed but her influence on
many lives will be felt for generations to come.
Helyne was born in
Akron,
Ohio,
and had residences in Cuyahoga
Falls,
Ohio;
Naples,
Florida;
and
Morgantown,
North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe.
