support the dreams of disadvantaged youth by sponsoring tables at this exciting event. Attending on your behalf were Chairman Steve Woods and his wife Annette, MAC Chairman Kathy Victor and Governance & Oversight Committee Member Jody Victor, Past Chairman Bob Andrews and his wife Past MAC Chairman Terry Andrews, a few guests, and IBOAI Staff.

This year’s Gala included musical performances by the DreamKids Choir, U.S. Dream Academy Founder and CEO Wintley Phipps, and YouTube sensation Charice and was emceed by actor-comedian Chris Tucker and local news anchor Cynne’ Simpson. The yearly event brings together luminaries from politics, business, and entertainment, like Co-Chairs Louis Gossett, Jr., and Major League Baseball’s Jonathan Mariner, actor Charles ‘Roc’ Dutton who gave a dazzling keynote speech, President’s Award co-recipients Angela Bassett, Robert Bozarth, and Judge Joe Brown, Legacy Award co-recipients The Honorable Sheila Jackson who inspired the guests with her talk

and veteran broadcast journalist Dan Rather, and Dream Service Award co-recipients Dr. Bernice A. King who stirred the crowd with her acceptance speech and Missionary Mary Bryant Tucker.

During the evening, our own Jody Victor accepted the gavel as the new Chairman of the U.S. Dream Academy Board of Directors, and Amway Executive Vice President Jim Payne became a member of that same Board. The IBOAI and Jody Victor’s MarkerNET are Dream Builder Partners and Amway Global is a National Partner with the U.S. Dream Academy.

Funds raised during the Gala support the U.S. Dream Academy’s innovative afterschool program which provides motivation, education and encouragement and enables the children to recognize the power of having a dream. The Academy currently runs mentoring programs in 10 communities nationwide. They currently serve more than 800 students in afterschool and in-school programs every day. Their goal is to create a national network of 50 Dream Academy Learning Centers.

Making dreams come true is such an important part of the Amway Global opportunity. It seems only fitting that the IBOAI, Amway Global and the U. S. Dream Academy have partnered to help disadvantaged youth bring their dreams to life, too.
