For 50 years, one of the major missions of the IBOAI has been to encourage all IBOs to DREAM BIG and follow up with BIG ACTION – action that helps other people and provides an avenue for them to help themselves in the process. It is only natural that the IBOAI would partner with the U.S. Dream Academy to empower children of incarcerated parents. By providing academic, social, and values enrichment through supportive mentoring and technology, the Academy helps youth maximize their potential and break the cycle of incarceration.

Through the IBOAI’s donations and the donations of many IBOs, members empower children to lead productive, fulfilling lives to achieve their greatness deep within. The U.S. Dream Academy uses these donations to develop and support 11 learning centers in 10 communities nationwide where high incarceration and poverty rates suppress the dreams of many. In 2008, the Academy’s after-school and mentoring program helped 1,060 young people move closer to realizing their dreams. These programs continue to provide the resources and assistance students need to improve their education and build self-esteem for personal growth and stronger futures. The Academy is guided by Founder and CEO Wintley Phipps, also an IBO.

In the past eight years, nearly 5,000 IBOs have supported the U.S. Dream Academy, every year giving more than $75,000. Major contributors to the Academy include members of the Victor and Dutt families.

The IBOAI, with Amway Global, another key supporter of the U.S. Dream Academy, encourages IBOs to support the dreams of struggling youth by contacting the U.S. Dream Academy to see how they can assist in this good cause: www.usdreamacademy.org
