All UK government claims against Amway UK have been dismissed, it was announced today. The ruling clears Amway UK of the threat of closure in the UK and Republic of Ireland, one of Amway’s oldest markets, with 10,000 IBOs and 100 employees.

The judge based his decision on significant reforms that Amway UK made last year. He said that the reformed Amway business model is “fully formulated, comprehensive, open and transparent and capable of effective and ongoing implementation without supervision.”

In response to the ruling, Alticor President Doug DeVos and Chairman Steve Van Andel noted the court decision wasn’t a “pop-the-champagne victory.” They said in a written statement, "This is a reminder that the marketplace and regulators hold us to the highest standards. We have an obligation to meet those standards - and we intend to do so."

Van Andel and DeVos also said, “We are happy for our UK colleagues and distributors, who have stood by us through an unimaginably difficult year of uncertainty and doubt. We owe them our gratitude – and our commitment to work hard to grow the UK market.

“We are also gratified that the direct selling business model received validation from the court – as courts and regulators around the world have done for nearly 50 years.”

Amway Global Managing Director Steve Lieberman also shared his reaction:
