Q: Where is my refund?

A: If you e-filed, you can check the status of your refund 72 hours after the IRS acknowledges receipt of your

e-filed return at www.irs.gov. (Click on “Where is my refund?”)

Call 800-829-4477 24 hours a day seven days a week for automated refund information.

If you have an Apple iPhone, iPod touch, or Android device, you can download IRS2Go app to check on your refund status.

Q: What records should I keep?

A: Records should be kept for 3 years after the year your file.

The exception would be records relating to home or rental property purchase or sale, stock transactions, IRAs, purchase or sale of business property. These should be kept for 4 years after the year of sale or purchase.

You should also keep copies of tax returns for 4 years.
